Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 September 2026
This policy describes how the Woofer: Bass Booster & EQ iPhone app handles information. The app is published by Mikita Kharoshka ("we", "us").
The short version
- There is no account. We never ask for your name, email address or phone number.
- Music you import stays on your phone. It is never uploaded anywhere.
- Your equalizer settings, liked tracks and listening history are stored on the device only.
- We use third parties for subscriptions and for measuring how the paywall performs. They receive technical and purchase data, not your identity.
- Streaming a track from the catalogue contacts the service hosting it directly from your phone, so that service sees the request.
- An advertising identifier is used only if you explicitly allow tracking when iOS asks.
What stays on your device
The following is kept locally and is never transmitted to us:
- Audio files you import. They are copied into the app's own storage and read from there. They are not uploaded, scanned or shared.
- Equalizer state — band gains, the preamp, the bass level, the selected preset and any curve you built by hand.
- Liked tracks and recently played, so the home screen has something to show.
- App state — whether onboarding is done, whether the one-time offer has been shown, and the haptics switch.
Deleting the app removes all of it.
Playing music from the catalogue
Searching or playing something from the in-app catalogue makes a request from your phone to the third-party service that hosts the audio — currently YouTube, operated by Google. That request goes directly from your device, so Google receives the technical information any web request carries, such as your IP address, and handles it under Google's own privacy policy. We do not route this through our servers, and we do not receive or store what you searched for or listened to.
We do not host, own or control that content. Your own imported files never involve the network at all.
Permissions the app asks for
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Files (picker) | Only to read the audio files you select yourself. The app cannot browse your storage; iOS hands over just the files you pick. |
| Tracking (ATT) | Optional. Covered below. |
The app does not ask for, and does not use, your microphone, camera, contacts, photos, location or health data.
Subscriptions
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or handle your payment card details.
We use Apphud (Apphud Inc.) to manage subscription state and to tell the app whether a subscription is active. Apphud receives technical and usage data such as device model, operating system version, app version, country, device identifiers, and subscription and purchase events. It does not receive your name or email address from us. See the Apphud privacy policy.
Analytics
We use Mixpanel (Mixpanel, Inc.) to measure one thing: how the subscription screens perform. The events sent are the steps of that flow — a paywall being requested, shown, a plan selected, a purchase started, completed, cancelled or failed, a trial started, and a restore — together with the technical context needed to read them: device model, OS and app version, country, the plan and price involved, and an identifier generated for your installation.
We do not send your name or email address, because we do not have them. We do not track what you listen to, what you search for, or which files you import. See the Mixpanel privacy policy.
Advertising identifier and tracking
iOS may ask whether you allow the app to track you across other companies' apps and websites. If you decline — or ignore the prompt — no advertising identifier (IDFA) is accessed and no cross-app tracking takes place. If you allow it, the identifier may be used to measure how effective our marketing is, so we can tell which campaign an install came from.
You can change the answer at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on your iPhone.
How long any of this is kept
Data on your device lives until you delete it or delete the app. Subscription records are kept by Apphud for as long as the app uses the service, because an active subscription has to be verifiable on a new phone. Analytics events are retained by Mixpanel under our project's retention settings and are used in aggregate.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of data relating to you, and to object to certain processing. Because there is no account, we will normally need the identifier associated with your installation in order to locate anything at all. Write to us and we will explain what is possible and do it where we can.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the updated version is published on this page with a new date at the top.
