Most questions are one of the ones below. If yours isn't, email us — we read everything.
My steps aren't counting
- Check the permission. Walker needs Motion & Fitness access. Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness and make sure both Fitness Tracking and Walker are switched on.
- Carry your iPhone. Steps come from the iPhone's own motion sensors, so steps taken while it sits on a desk aren't counted.
- Open the app. Steps are counted by iOS all the time, but the app and its widgets catch up the next time Walker is opened.
- Walker runs on iPhone only; iPads don't have a step counter.
Why do my steps differ from Apple Health?
Health combines every source it has — your iPhone, an Apple Watch, other apps — and removes the overlap between them. Walker reads the iPhone's motion sensors directly. If you often walk without your phone but with a watch, Health will show more.
GPS workouts
- Allow location access when you start your first workout. Walker uses it only while a workout is running.
- The route keeps recording with the screen locked until you end the workout.
- A weak signal indoors or among tall buildings can make the route and pace jumpy. Starting outdoors, in the open, gives the best fix.
Adding a widget
Press and hold an empty spot on the Home Screen, tap Edit → Add Widget, and search for Walker. The Today widget is free, on the Home Screen and the Lock Screen. The Week & Streak widget is part of Pedometer Pro.
How streak freezes work
- Your streak grows every day you reach your step goal.
- If you miss a day and have a streak freeze, it's used for you automatically and the streak carries on.
- Pro gives you 2 freezes every month. You can also buy them singly or in a pack of five.
- If a streak has just broken and you had no freeze, a streak repair can mend it within the next couple of days.
Subscriptions, cancelling and refunds
Purchases are billed by Apple, not by us, so cancellations and refunds go through Apple.
- Cancel: Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone, then select Walker and cancel. Pro stays on until the end of the period you already paid for.
- Refund: request it at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds on Apple's behalf.
- Restore purchases: the You tab → Restore purchases, or Restore on any offer screen, after reinstalling or moving to a new iPhone. It restores what belongs to the Apple Account you're signed in with.
- Free trial: where one is offered it's available once per Apple Account. If you've used it before, the app shows the price without a trial rather than promising one.
- Lifetime: a one-time purchase doesn't cancel a subscription you already have. If you switch to Lifetime, cancel the subscription in Settings as above.
